About RAMPIG

Theatre Performance Art RAMPIG is a freelance artist collective from Germany. Our members come from different cities and have different artistic focuses. We form an interdisciplinary community, extended by international guest artists of different genres for the duration of a production.

Often our productions are based on works of classical literature, combining motifs from pop culture and high culture to abolish traditional storytelling methods. In a basic and participatory research phase we examine the collected material on contemporary perspectives using methods of artistic research.

Our work combines performance art with contemporary forms of drama in the context of spatial installations, while the exploration of theatrical boundaries and the boundaries of art in general stands in the center of our interest. In recent productions immersive strategies were applied increasingly. Our goal is to negotiate the traditional boundary between audience and stage, following the idea of a cross-border art experience in which the public can autonomously decide on the role of the active participant or the silent observer.

We conceptually explore the relationship between art and real life, thereby emphasizing on a particularly strong link between the visual and performing arts. This results in a way of working that we call curating through play.
